CASE STUDY TESTIMONIALS
What a powerful, motivating, enlightening, and educational experience Dr. Stanley Ellis, with Sille Educational Consulting, provided for the Southern Arkansas University TRIO Talent Search students. The workshops were thought provoking, engaging, and encouraging. Dr. Ellis utilized various methods of presenting to help the students improve their critical thinking skills, enhance their power of words, and boost their confidence in direct conversation with others. His hands-on approach incorporated all participants. The SAU TRIO Talent Search students’ evaluation responses were overwhelmingly favorable and indicated the students benefited educationally and personally from the series of workshops Dr. Ellis presented. Below are a few quotes, from the TRIO Talent Search students. The quotes indicate the effectiveness of Dr. Ellis’ workshops. ‘Dr. Stanley has really given me great wisdom about resumes; I feel like I can walk into an interview and get the job; Now I can take this into the real world; What I have learned will be helpful in today’s workforce; This information will help me in life; I feel accomplished and ready to work, I learned a lot about college life and how to get there; I liked how energetic Dr. Ellis was; Absolutely loved it; I learned the right mindset and behavior will help you reach your goals and today was fun and educational.’ I am thankful for the experience Dr. Ellis offered to the TRIO students and will definitely utilize his services again.
As an Education Specialist with Trio’s Talent Search program, I’m always looking for thought-provoking and engaging ways to capture and retain the interest of the students that our department serves. When our director brought to our attention that Dr. Ellis was chosen to render our “College Series” for our Saturday workshop endeavor, I immediately began to anticipate what he would bring to our students that would enhance what we have already imparted to them. After being introduced at the first meeting, Dr. Ellis set the tone for what would prove to be one of our most successful workshop sessions that I have been able to witness since being an Education Specialist. Not only was Dr. Ellis engaging with our students, but his hands on approach and relatable dialect also created an excitement and motivation for our students to adhere to the wealth of knowledge that he was communicating to them. I remember one of our students asking whether he’d be back after our first session because he made such a great impression on her. His genuine approach with each student definitely garnered a profound, positive impact in their lives. I was impressed with how he conducted our Talent Search sessions that my organization booked him as our keynote speaker for our upcoming African Heritage Extravaganza. He comes HIGHLY recommended!
The Educational Talent Search Program sought out Dr. Ellis to provide leadership training for high school age participants. Dr. Ellis’s program, Leadership and Success Series for Youth, includes not only leadership activities, but also sessions on various communication issues that teens must deal with: appropriate social media communication, being a productive team member, conflict resolution in daily and school life, and resumes for scholarships and jobs. The ability of Dr. Ellis to relate to this age group was extraordinary. His interactive sessions and attention to the needs of individual persons allowed the students to develop confidence in themselves and gain personal tools that will assist them in the next school year.
I reached out to Dr. Ellis on recommendation from a colleague whose students had rave reviews after participating in his workshop on leadership. Dr. Ellis facilitated a workshop for our student leaders from throughout the state, all coming from low-income communities, on empowering themselves and developing their own leadership. Not only was Dr. Ellis a true pleasure to work with and ensured that he was extremely prepared for our students from checking on technology and space needs to deeply understanding the context of our organization, our students gained so much insight and learning from his workshop. We are thrilled about this new partnership and are looking forward to working together in the future. We highly recommend Dr. Ellis’s workshop and partnership for anyone looking to deepen students’ awareness, confidence, and motivation!
Dr. Ellis presented a session as part of Teach For America-Arkansas’ annual ASLI (Arkansas Student Leadership Initiative) Spring Summit. In that session, he worked with students from low-income schools from around the state to define leadership and success in their own terms, and create concrete long- and short-term goals in order to reach that definition of success. Students were leaving that session wide-eyed, sharing with their teacher-leaders things like, “I know where I want to go now!” and “Dr. Ellis really pushed me to think beyond just graduating high school.” In addition, several students noted that they saw him as a role model, as a Black man who is from a small, low-income town in rural Arkansas. We appreciate the profound impact Dr. Ellis made on those students and are excited to continue working with him in the future!
In an effort to promote college awareness and access, Stuttgart High School students participated in Arkansas College Application Campaign Month, sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Career Education and PCCUA-Stuttgart Career Coach program during the month of October. The goal was to provide seniors the opportunity to complete and file college applications with the support of their school. In this effort, the Career Coach wanted to provide college-focused activities, encouragement, motivation, information, and assistance for all students aspiring to pursue post-secondary education. To help us reach the intended goal of participating in the Arkansas College Application Campaign, Dr. Ellis came highly recommended to help empower and assist our students. Our organization benefited from working with Dr. Ellis to cross barriers and preconceived notions in order to reach students right where they are. For some students, this partnership sparked a fire of interest in preparing for future endeavors. As a result, the career coach program has increased in serving students with college/career resources. Students are better informed and better equipped to make post-secondary education and career decisions. Because of Dr. Ellis’s connection with the Delta region and his passion for youth, our students connected with him and are taking even more advantage of tools and strategies introduced through the “LASSY” and “MIE”program. The positive and motivational message given by Dr. Ellis encouraged youth and adults of endless opportunities beyond their present state. Students are thinking more about future college & career opportunities to not just better themselves, but also the community they decide to reside in.
During my tenure as the Director College and Career Advancement, at Little Rock Preparatory Academy Charter School, I was seeking a competent professional to present relevant and accurate information. Dr. Ellis enthusiasm in which the students received the presentation was enjoyable. By any measure Dr. Ellis is a very effective speaker and educator.
As a principal of a middle school, I sought Dr. Ellis’ services to encourage and motivate 6-8 grade underserved students. He designed a training to support efforts in identifying their success by planning and working towards achieving goals to accomplish desired success. Ninety-eight percent of the students at the school received reduced or free lunch and 100% were minority. It was a huge benefit for this demographic of students to see and hear from a successful man who looked like them. Students were inspired and gained tools from Dr. Ellis to move them towards a path that was conducive to establishing the necessary steps towards achieving future personal and professional success.
Just a note of thanks for your contribution to the National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI). Your dynamic ability to reach, engage, enlighten, and educate minority youth is amazing. The participants were captivated by your presence, knowledge, and exuberant personality. The career planning seminar perfectly aligned with NSTI’s goals and objectives. All participants rated your seminar as excellent and many identified career planning as a much improved area of personal growth. I look forward to working with you in the future.
Our Talent Search department here at Southern Arkansas University utilized the services of Sille Educational Consulting and Dr. Ellis in 2017 for a workshop for our seniors. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the workshop due to taking a group of underclassmen on a college visit. I did hear the reviews from the seniors and how it helped them in making that step into adulthood as graduation was near for them. Our director Mrs. Stephanie Manning-Bradford raved about how good he was and how his workshops can help adults as well as students. Our students are important to us as they should be, and we wanted to prepare them for the next step in their educational journey so Dr. Ellis was the answer. This year for the months September through November we utilized Dr. Ellis and Sille Educational Consulting for a three Saturday camp for our students, and I tell you it was amazing! Dr. Ellis came with Mr. Charles Green one day and his daughter another to assist him in conducting one of the best workshops I have even been a part of. Not only did our students learn and enjoy the workshops Dr. Ellis conducted, but our entire office did as well. One of his workshops was centered on creating resumes and marketing yourself. It was helpful to not only our students but to me personally because I immediately found my resume and started to make corrections and updates to it based on the information Dr. Ellis provided. I think about the different tips that he gave our students and I often refer back to some of them when I meet with students. Thank You Dr. Ellis for all of your hard work and dedication!

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the five year plan demo you gave this summer at one of our TRIO summer camps. I am in my third month applying this plan, and I’ve noticed that my efforts have borne fruit!
For instance, I’ve been learning Ancient Greek (per the promptings of a good friend and colleague of mine, Luke Ranieri). For the past few months, he and I have done live streams on his channel where we read from a practice book in Ancient Greek. In one of these segments he noticed that my reading has gotten better, and, indeed, I noticed that reading was a lot easier.
I’ve also invested more time in my writing goals, and I’ve finished a rough outline for a project I’m working on where I am reinterpreting the myth of Persephone (the mythological queen of the Underworld).
I’m still fine tuning my plan (and my discipline for that matter), but the progress I have noticed has been very satisfying. So, I wanted to express my thanks for your (indirect) advice.
